The Public Safety Department of the City of Wolf Point is another major function of government which has as its objective the protection of person and property, i.e. police protection, fire protection, and animal control. This department employs approximately 8 full-time employees and 25 volunteers.

Animal Control Services is a function under Public Health. This area covers the impounding of dogs running at large; keeping records of impounded animals; disposition of unredeemed animals; licensing; and impounding those suspected of having rabies.

City ordinances require that all animals be licensed within the City of Wolf Point. It also prohibits the number of animals a homeowner may keep on his premises.

Vaccination clinics are held annually at which time pet owners may have their pet vaccinated and registered. Any other time, the registration may be done at the City Office.
